The New Forest – Nature and Heritage Across the Water

Just across the harbour from Southampton lies The New Forest, one of England’s most cherished national parks, once established as a royal hunting ground by William the Conqueror in 1079.

Today, it offers visitors peaceful woodlands, open heathlands, wild ponies, and picturesque villages — a perfect contrast to Southampton’s urban energy. Our guided walks highlight the forest’s unique ecology, cultural heritage, and timeless connection to the surrounding region.

SS Shieldhall – A Living Steamship from the Past

Berthed in Southampton, the SS Shieldhall is the largest operational steamship in Britain and a remarkable example of maritime heritage. Built in 1955, this classic vessel offers a unique glimpse into the age of steam-powered travel and specific cargo transport.

Visitors can step aboard and explore the working engine and boiler rooms, historic bridge, and passenger areas, all lovingly preserved by volunteers. Cruises on the Shieldhall offer panoramic views of the Solent while immersing guests in the sights, sounds, and smells of a bygone era. Our guided experience reveals the ship’s history, its role in the post-war period, and its connection to Southampton’s proud seafaring tradition.

Chichester – Roman Roots & Historic Charm

Nestled in West Sussex, Chichester is one of Britain’s oldest cities, founded by the Romans in the 1st century AD. The city grew around a Roman street grid still visible today and was later fortified by Saxons and Normans, who left behind walls, towers, and a rich historical legacy.

Just a short distance from Chichester lies Fishbourne Roman Palace, the largest Roman residence ever discovered in Britain. Built around 75 AD, the palace rivals many in mainland Europe and gives insight into the luxury of Roman elite life on the island.
